Welcome back to Twins4wellness! Thereโs nothing quite like a relaxing day at the beach. The sound of the waves, the warm sun on your skin, and the carefree vibes all come together to create a perfect escape. But letโs be realโyour beach day can go from fabulous to frustrating if you donโt pack the right things. As a breast cancer survivor, Iโve learned that comfort, protection, and joy are everything. Whether youโre planning a solo beach escape, a family outing, or a girlsโ day with your besties, hereโs my list of the best things to bring to the beach for a perfect day in the sun.

1. Sun Protection Essentials
After going through cancer treatment, Iโm even more serious about protecting my skin. Donโt forget:
- Broad-spectrum SPF 50+ sunscreen (reef-safe, if possible!) I have a post dedicated to the best sunscreens for breast cancer: Sunscreen for Breast Cancer Survivors
- A wide-brimmed hat โ fashionable and functional

- Sunglasses with UV protection
- A lightweight, long-sleeve beach cover-up
- Beach umbrella or pop-up tent for shade breaks. Here is the umbrella I got for the beach:

2. Comfortable Seating
Sitting in the sand can get old quickly. Bring:
- A beach chair with back support โ trust me, your spine will thank you. Here is a super comfortable one I found on Amazon:

- A thick beach towel or padded mat
- Portable footrest or small ottoman (if you want to lounge like royalty)
3. Snacks & Hydration
Stay energized and hydrated:
- Plenty of water โ consider a big insulated jug or water bottle
- Healthy snacks โ think fresh fruit, trail mix, or granola bars
- A mini cooler for refreshing treats like frozen grapes or iced tea. Here is the best lightweight cooler I found on Amazon:

- Reusable utensils and napkins โ eco-friendly and stylish!
4. Entertainment Must-Haves
The beach isnโt just for swimming:
- A good book or magazine (bonus points for beach-themed fiction!) Here are the best summer romance books: Love in the Pages: The Best Romantic Books for the Summer
- Bluetooth speaker for music or podcasts (keep the volume respectful)
- Beach games like paddleball, frisbee, or a deck of waterproof cards. Here are some cool waterproof cards I found on Amazon:ย

- A journal or sketchpad, if you want to reflect or create
5. Water Fun Gear

Ready to make waves?
- Swimwear that makes you feel confident โ mastectomy-friendly swimsuits exist, and theyโre gorgeous! Here is my link for a post on the best swimwear for post-breast cancer:
The Best Swimwear for Post-Surgery Breast Cancer Survivors - Water shoes or flip-flops
- Floaties or boogie boards
- Goggles and a waterproof phone case
6. Post-Beach Comfort Kit
Getting sand in places it doesnโt belong is inevitable. Be prepared:
- Baby powder (helps remove sand from skin!)
- An extra towel and dry clothes

- Reusable wet bag for swimsuits and damp items
- Travel-size aloe vera or after-sun lotion
- A brush or comb for wind-tangled hair
7. Extras That Make It Magical
Sometimes itโs the little things that make your day unforgettable:
- A fun beach tote to carry everything in style, like this one:

- Phone tripod or selfie stick for snapping sunny memories
- Portable fan or cooling towel
- A small first aid kit with band-aids and lip balm with SPF
Final Thought:
As someone who has battled cancer and come out stronger, I believe every beach day is a celebration of life. Pack what makes you feel good, stay safe under the sun, and enjoy every sandy, salty moment.
